Afu Insane

His rap name. Since 2021 he has written and performed rap in Bhojpuri, Maithili, Nepali, and English, carrying Madhesh culture and social questions into Nepali hip-hop.

Mohammad found rap at the age of 10, in his uncle's shop, when Yama Buddha's song "Saathi" played. During the Covid-19 lockdown he taught himself to write and deliver verses, learning from YouTube, recording on his smartphone in a quiet corner, and editing and uploading the tracks himself.

From 2021 he shared his compositions on social media and built a following. A friend with a recording studio later gave him access to professional equipment and guidance. His stage debut came at the Dashain fair in October 2022, which he describes as a turning point.

He raps in Bhojpuri, Maithili, Nepali, and English. Rapping in Bhojpuri matters to him: he wants to give the language depth in a genre where it is too often tied to cheap themes. His lyrics speak about identity, inequality, patriotism, and social change.

The road was not easy. Money for production was scarce, his family did not want him in music at first, and people around him doubted the choice. Over time that criticism turned into respect.

Khukuri

One of his most popular songs and his personal favourite: a rap about love and pride for Nepal and the resilience of its people.

"Khukuri" is the song Mohammad calls his own favourite, and The Himalayan Times named it among his popular tracks. It is a statement of love and pride for Nepal, and a tribute to the resilience of the people who carry its name.

Aairaxa Tero Dai

His first rap composition, the track that started the AFU INSANE journey.

Every catalogue has a first track. For AFU INSANE it was "Airasia Tero Dai", written while he was still teaching himself the craft. It marks the point where listening turned into writing.

Web Series "Aarati"

His screen debut: a role in the web series "Arati", made to start conversations about social change and to support the voices of survivors.

Alongside music, Mohammad made his debut in Nepali screen work with the web series "Arati". The series aims to spark conversations and push for social change, and he uses the platform to amplify survivors' voices and speak up for justice.

Acting sits with his other creative work: photography, videography, vlogging, poetry, and short films.
